Beads Of Courage

Recently I did a photo shoot of Ida Marie in her beads of courage. Most of you do not know what beads of courage is, so for you to understand this post let me explain. Beads of courage is a very unique program that helps you remember milestones, accomplishments, different tests that your child has gone through, nights spent in the hospital, and so on. At the beginning of Ida’s battle with cancer she was given a string of beads with her name on it.

Rather quickly she began to get colorful beads to add on her string. Each color of bead means something. Example: A black bead means pokes (IV starts, blood draws, SC and IM injections, and port access.) so every time she is poked she gets a black bead to add to her beads of courage.

There are also “special beads” that are hand made. When Ida started losing her hair she was given a this bead.

Beads of Courage is to “visually show and tell your friends and family of your experiences of courage”.

As Ida collects her beads, she quickly fills one necklace at a time, and now has more than 7 strings of beads weighing over two pounds!!

I thought this was really neat, so I did a photo shoot her in the beads of courage just so you could see them!

Deuteronomy 31:6
Be strong and of good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them:
for the Lord thy God, he it is that doth go with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee!

Blessings!
